MARTIN, Mrs.Essie Mae, age 98 of Muskegon passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020, at the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice House Residence Muskegon.Visitation: 11am Friday, May 15,2020,at Divinity Funeral Home&Chapel 2812 Fifth St.,with Graveside Services conducted at 12:30pm from Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Rev.Barry Pierce, Officiating Mrs.Martin a resident of the Muskegon area for over 50years was born July 4,1921 in Lewisville, AR, to the union of the late Richard and Sue Sturgis-Martin. While in Muskegon Essie  worked at various jobs throughout the area.She also later became a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church having joined under the leadership of the late Rev.Joseph H.Martin, with Mrs.Martin's love and dedication to the church, for many years served faithfully as both a member of the Kitchen Committee and the Senior Choir.Essie never met a stranger and when in good health enjoyed spending time with family and friends.She was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all.Mrs.Martin leaves in God's care: A loving and devoted daughter Gloria D.(John) Gordon of Muskegon;A devoted grandson Marcus (Shawanda) Tumblin Sr of Norton Shores; 3 great-grandchildren Marcus Tumblin Jr of California; Shamara Tumblin of Norton Shores and Terry Jennings II of Muskegon.Special Friends Perry (Karen) Cheatum and Catherine Jones all of Muskegon Hts.A host of nieces, nephews,other relatives and church family.Besides her parents Mrs.Martin was preceded in death by her 12 siblings.DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATE GUIDE LINES ONLY (10) FAMILY MEMBERS/ FRIENDS ARE ALLOWED AT THE GRAVESITE.
